Repost: One word on a birth record.
Hi:
Here is my dilemma:
The sentence reads: ein Kind männlichen Geschlechts, welches gleich nach der Geburt (__) starb; (translated: a male child who died immediately after birth).
Perfect without the missing word. I have racked my brain to try and come up with it.
On the record it is not clear, so I found another record with the same word.

Can anyone help me, please? Does it describe the birth or something else?

The word in question is "wieder" [=again], so the sentence says " ... who passed away again immediately after baptism".

To me that doesn't make sense but I'm not a native German speaker. Please explain why it is used in this context: Ein Kind männlichen Geschlechts, welches gleich nach der Geburt wieder starb.
I'm wanting to learn how the Germans think... this will help me do better translations.
I'm grateful for any help... your group is an excellent resource.

Literal translation: " a child of male gender, which died again immediately after birth". Of course the word "wieder/again" is not used in its literal sense here. The meaning is simply that the child was born and then died right after birth or after having received baptism.
BTW- The word "Taufe" used in the phrase shown above means baptism or christening.
