Johann Georg
Hi:
Just a few words to finish this perplexing record. Please proofread it as it doesn't make sense. And correct any mistakes.
Here is what is perplexing: He was born on the 13th & 14th.
Too many Jacob Bauers. All are the younger. UGH! The godfather or sponsor is also the first witness. But the 2nd witness is Jacob Bauer the younger.
And the Pfarrer signature is illegible.
Good luck and thank you!

The record is stating that the child was born at midnight, on the night between the 13th and the 14th--midnight is usually considered the next day, so it would be the 14th. The pastor's full name is listed on the title page (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSZ5-CTB4?i=693&cc=3015626): Carl Wilhelm Brecht. In his signature, he's signed his surname, followed by something (possibly just a signature swirl; it's a little clearer on image 695) and then his occupation (Evangelical Protestant pastor).

Hi Charlotte
Jaw drop... I have been searching for his name for ages. Never thought to look at the title page. Duh!
And you sorted out the Jakob Bauers.
That super because he is one of ten children.
Now I know how Brecht rolls, so translating his sibling's records should be easier.
You're the best!

You're very welcome, Martha! I'm happy to have been able to help! The title page and first few pages are often really helpful when trying to decipher priests' names (because they do tend to scribble their own names rather illegibly haha).
