Birth records in France

Alfons Delbou reported in US Naturalization papers that he was born in Dunkirk, France on 17 NOV 1864. So far I have been unsuccessful identifying a database with this information. Any recommendations?

Here is an idea...but I am not an experienced French researcher.

I went to Search--then Catalog. In the place field, type--France, Nord, Dunkerque. Search

Click, Civil Registration, then Registres...1792-1892. Scroll down to Naissances 1864-1867. Click the camera at the end of the row. There is an alphabetical index at the front of the film. You could look through the "D's" and see if you recognize your name.
