Hello Rachel,

Name, status, and residence of the baptismal witnesses: (1) August Reibs, workman; (2) Anton Rottenberg, shepherd's assistant; (3) Henriette Hackbarth, shepherd's wife; all in Schneidemühl.

Remarks: "Das Kind _____? die Nothtaufe durch den Lehrer Timm" = The child received?/was given? an emergency baptism by the teacher Timm.

Comment: The word "Nothtaufe" = emergency baptism. Such baptisms were given to children after birth if it appeared that the newborn child was weak and might die soon after birth. In this case, the child was born on 22 August, and even though he was given an emergency baptism, he lived long enough to be "officially" baptized on 9 September, 18 days after birth.
