My name is Seamus Martin and I am trying to find information on an Elizabeth Martha Martin, born in Ardboe Tyrone in 1875. On the 1901 Irish census she is house help in Tyrone. In 1911 she has moved to Derry. later she was a priest`s housekeeper in Liverpool. If anyone k.nows anything, it will make me happy

What are you trying to find out - about her early life, later life or both?

You say that she moved to Liverpool after 1911. Do you know when? When was she a priest's housekeeper?

Unfortunately, with a name like Elizabeth Martin, finding her in records will be very difficult. Even with her middle name, this does not improve the position that much as she may not have always used her middle name in records. For example, looking on Ancestry, there are numerous records relating to an Elizabeth Martin living (or dying) in Liverpool of approximately the right age including some Catholic burial records. There are also records relating to an Elizabeth Martha Martin born in 1875 but in London so we can ignore those records.

Elizabeth Martha Martin was born in Ardboe Tyrone on 14-01-1875. In the 1901 Census she is working as a servant for the Brady Family. Tyrone, Killycolpy, Killywoolagen. House 10. In 1911 she has moved to Londonderry, Urban 1 Clarence Ave. House 12. That is all I have. Seamus.

1901 Census Eliza M MARTIN age 24 B abt 1877 age living with the BRADY family 1901 Killywoolaghan (Killycolpy, Tyrone)

1911 census Martha MARTIN age 39 b abt 1872 living with the McMULLEN family, Clarence Ave, L'derry.

You refer to her as Elizabeth Martha.

Do you know which name or names she was known by as we have a choice of three which enlarges the search somewhat. Also theres a bit of a vagary in the actual year of birth on the census records. How confident are you that this is the same person on each of these records?

Also do we know when she moved to Liverpool which will allow the search in England to be reduced.

If she was in England by 1921 the 1921 census MAY help when it is released early next year although it's pay per view on findmypast.co.uk. If she was still in N Ireland that'll be a different story as there's no 1921 census, nor indeed any census until 1951.
