I know I'm late - just came across this discussion by chance.
I agree, the text after Johannes Siedler is not the cause of death, but where he lived. It would be nice to see a larger section to compare the script - but I suggest it says "im feld": there are several locations named Feld in nearby Obfelden and Affoltern.
Then we have "Schneiders" and "Schneider rudis": these will be nicknames identifying a family line. Likely an ancestor of Johannes Siedler had been a Schneider (tailor). Similar for an ancestor of Johannes Schnebeli, but the ancestor's given name had been Rudi: in order not to use the same nickname for two families (likely without connection) the given name was added.

It could be: In the hero, Tailor

im Held may be a location (village or farm) in the parish, rather than literally translating "in the hero".

Thank you for your thought. It makes complete sense.

WSeelentag Hi Here is the full page. Thanks for taking a look at this entry of Johannes Sidler. He was a tailor. Also here is a link to what I have on him, on my website:

Thank you for the complete page - unfortunately not very helpful for our question: most of the page is a different script - and no "f" in the part with the same script. I still feel it should read "im feld".
Professions were often "inherited" by descendants - so that Johannes was a tailor himself is no surprise. The nickname will still be based on an ancestor: do you have info on their professions?
Congratulations on your webpage - you certainly have done some serious research !
Best regards - Wolf

Interesting - including more Schnebeli entries - but also the "other" hand.

WSeelentag Yes I noticed that the entries before the small section on Johannes Sidler and the entries on the next page appear to be written by a different pastor. Thanks for taking a look. Also Schnebeli is a common name in the town of Ottenbach. I've notice that the same names pop up again and again over a period of hundreds of years. We visited Ottenback's cemetery in 2019 and Sidler and Schnebeli names are all over the place. Pretty unusual for people who live in the US. KG

I noticed on https://community.familysearch.org/de/discussion/128172/household-registers-created-ca-1795-image-197-film-8126955 that in the Haushaltsregister Ottenbach a region "oben im Feld" is mentioned - with an entry of a person (name illegible on the poor copy) being a Schneider - is he possibly the Sidler ancestor leading to the "Schneiders" nickname ... or have they been tailors for even more generations?

WSeelentag Thanks for taking a look at this document. Johannes Sidler was a tailor as mentioned in other documents. He lived most of his life in Ottenbach, Switzerland. No other Sidler family member were tailors, at least nobody that lived during his lifetime. Kent
