Brandes Family 1849 and prior
Hi. I live in America.. I am having trouble locating my ancestors. I know they were in the Hannover area but do not know the specific part of Hannover. the names i am looking for are Sophia Wilhelmine Brandes birth year i have is 1824 but could be 1823. i have her parents as Ernst Heinrich Conrad Brandes (id number KDMK-QFX) born approximately 1796, and her mom as Engel Sophia (maiden name unknown) born approximately 1799. I have looked at archion.de with no luck so far.. can you help please.. in Engel Sophia's will she mentions daughters Dorothea Sophia Charlotte and Dorothea Wilhelmina Caroline.. I know the family left Germany prior to 1849 as that is when Sophia Wilhelmine was married in the USA. her father was naturalized in the USA in approximately 1850/52. i also do not have their passenger records.. i see that there is a genealogy for Ernst on family search but i have not been able to verify the information it contains, including the marriage date given of 1829

@tiffany meadows We are so glad you have joined our German community - It is a great place to get help and to help others! We have a lot of talented, experienced participants here.
Be sure to review the links at the top of our community page for some great resources - we add new ones as we find them.
We look forward to hearing from you. Most of the time, it is best to "ask a question" - do this by selecting the arrow to the right of "new discussion". Asking a question allows you to accept the answer or let us know you would like more help. I was able to change this post to a question for you.
I am going to mark my post as a rejected answer so that your request will still show unanswered, as my post does not answer your question, it just provides some useful tips.
Thanks for being patient as we sometimes must wait for a response to come from a volunteer with the needed skill set. It is always good if you include the identification number of the person in question in Family Search Family Tree so we can see the bigger picture.
We look forward to your comments and questions.
Enjoy today! Cindy Jarvis

thank you Cindy! I look forward to any help :) I was able to break down the brick wall for the line that my Brandes family married into by help from someone in the archives finding the first family.. that opened the flood gates so to speak and i very quickly had approximately 150 records to go through and translate and organize! so i've got a feeling that similar can happen if i can just find the definitive location for the Brandes family :)

I am at a brick wall with this family, the information on here regarding the Brandes family doesn't seem to jive.. 1829 marriage.. up to 9 years after 1st child born, doesn't seem likely (i guess not impossible but due to time period my guess is not very likely)
