Notifying members of changes of multiple, duplicate profiles
Lately I have taken it upon myself to search for duplicate profiles of individuals and/or families in my line. I don’t change the information, except for formatting dates and places to the accepted standard on this site and if they are not consistent with the attached sources and the family itself. It goes without saying that in some instances there can be 5+ duplicates of one profile. Because this involves a large chunk of time, it is difficult for me to add notes to the family profiles. I always add my justifications for the changes in the “Reason” box. I know how upsetting it can be for some to see all these changes. What is the best way to make a global notification on a family? I feel awful leaving the profiles without some type of note behind.

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to send out a global message to anyone descended from any particular ancestor. You can write down all the submitters who have added information to a person and then send a message to each of them. You can also write a note about all the individuals that you have merged including all the different IDs and the reasons you merged them and put that into the Life Sketch of the remaining individual.

That sounds like a good idea. Thank you.

No need to be concerned if you are making "Changes" that are, either, "Stanardising" a 'Date' or 'Place'; or, that is self evident; and/or, supported by attached "Sources".
.
I used to 'Religiously' add comprehensive "Reason Statements" for everything; but, like you indicated, I spent more time with the "Reason", which in most cases were self evident, than Researching and Adding/Amending/Correcting.
.
Now, I still add "Reason Statements" were necessary; but, only when necessary, not when those "Changes" relate to (a general) "Stanardising" a 'Date' or 'Place'; or, that are, self evident; and/or, supported by attached "Sources".
.
"Reason Statements" should contain Information/Details where there are NO "Sources" available.
.
You do not need to get in touch with the 'World' when you make a change.
.
Because, believe me, even if you make a change that just relates to (a general) "Stanardising" a 'Date' or 'Place'; or, that is, self evident; and/or, supported by attached "Sources", the 'World', if they are not pleased with it, will get in contact with you (eg. "User Messaging" of "FamilySearch").
.
Do not sweat it.
.
Let the 'World' come to you, if they feel it necessary.
.
Time is too precious; and, short.
.
Keep getting on with the real Work.
.
Keep on, keeping on ...
.
Enjoy.
.
And, 'Good Luck'.
