Does Community allow groups for individual stakes?
Our stake would like to create a group for the temple and family history consultants in our units so we can share positive experiences, answer each other's questions, and announce stake or ward events. Does Community support that? How do we get permission?

Good question. Right now, I don't know. The good news is that I have weekly meetings and I will bring this question up in that meeting and hopefully, I will have more information for you. @N Tychonievich I brought your question up on individual groups in my meeting this morning and right now they are still working on that and I don't have a clear answer as to when that part of the community will become available. Please keep checking back and hopefully in the very near future they will have that function available. Thank you for asking and I am sorry I don't have any answers for you yet.

The ability to create a new Community Group is currently not available at this time. However, there are plans to do so in the near future. Check back again at a later date and hopefully there will be more information to give you. Thank you for your question.

@MLV2 Currently, the status has not changed. There is a lot behind the scenes they are doing that we are not aware of. I am sorry I don’t have any more information than that.

@MLV2 In my leadership meeting today I asked more about this question. The FamilySearch Community groups are research groups. They had Ward and Stakes make groups a few years ago, but those groups are not being made anymore. FamilySearch Community’s focus is creating groups that will help aid in researching ancestors.

It does, thanks! I was hoping they would bring back the stake/ward groups. I'm told that there are facebook groups for temple and family history consultants, so we will likely use those. Thanks again for following up. MLV

Thanks Shannon, yes, I am aware and a member of that group. What we need is a forum or venue for our stake. Some things would be particular to our situation and I wouldn't want to have to moderate a global group. MLV

@MLV2 Just a thought. I encourage all the temple and family history consultants and leaders in my stake to join this Community group.
I think there is great benefit in interacting with a larger community. Even though every stake, ward, and branch is unique, I think that we can all benefit from seeing the questions, concerns, and ideas that others have. I like the idea that I can see what units all over the world are doing. We can accomplish more working together and sharing ideas and concerns than we can in isolation.

Agree that there is great benefit in joining this and other community groups, and all in our stake are invited to do so. However, some things like needing consultant help with a specific ward or stake FH activity, following up on specific training in ward or stake conference sessions, or other events, discussing ward plans and activities, coordinating support for community activities, etc., etc., are specific to our stake needs. The global community group does not offer the capability nor is it intended to provide a forum to coordinate among the ward TFHLs in a stake.

A family group may not be part of the FamilySearch Community but it is a way for ward members to share names and communicate with each other.

FamilySearch family groups allow users to communicate through FamilySearch messaging. When part of group, a user can send a message to all group members. Church members can share ordinance reservations with family groups.
How many people can be in a family group?
A group can have up to 100 FamilySearch users.
How many family groups can I join?
Each FamilySearch user can join up to 10 groups.
Can I invite FamilySearch users who are not Church members to join a group?
You can invite any FamilySearch user to join your group. Users who are not Church members are able to send and receive group messages. They do not see shared reservations.
Can group members share living information in Family Tree?
No. Living individuals are visible only to the user who created them.
Can group members see or share private memories?
No. Private memories are visible only to the user who created them.
How many ordinances can be shared with a family group?
Group members can share up to 1,000 printable family name cards.
Can groups contain public and member users?
All groups can contain public and member users. Family groups are not defined as public or member.
If a member leaves a group, does a message about ordinances display?
When Church members leave a family group, they receive this message: "Any unclaimed shared ordinances will return to your reservation list.
What happens when I click Reserve for later?
Any records you select move to your My Reservations list.
What happens with I click Print?
Print allows you to print cards for the temple on your home printer.

@Quint Hurst Thank you for your detailed information and what you shared. 😊 What you shared is for FamilySearch Family Tree. What the person was asking was to make a group in the Community for His Ward/Stake which is not the same as what you shared with me.

The comments in this thread lead me to think that the potential solution to the original request for Stake/Ward groups may well be served by the use of a 'private' FaceBook group. I've been/am on several of these for Ward Relief Society's use in order to get T/FH news out to the Ward.
Ward 'admin' could be the Ward Temple and Family History Leader and Ward Mission Leader or the Elder's Quorum Counselor over those areas as well as the Relief Society Counselor with parallel responsibilities. These two tie so close together in 'Gathering' that I find it difficult to even try to separate them.
Stakes could do something similar with the High Counselor over T/FH and Misn efforts doing the admin. All Ward/Stake Consultants could be invited to join. However, this would not reach those who decline to participate in FaceBook. Another social media platform?
