Translation Help with Infant Birth and Death
I've found Eli Tørresdatter's birth and death records. Her birth record is entry 2. https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/1648/110
The column that usually has witnesses has some statement instead. What does that say? Also, the next column has a date. What is that date for.
Her death record is the last entry here: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/1648/262
This indicates that she died at 2 weeks old. I expect death and burial dates; however, the records have three dates listed. I presume December 16, 1842 is the death date and December 21 is the burial date, but then what is the February 26, 1843 date listed for?

Hello @Eric_Leon_Kendall ,
The birth entry for Eli reads from the left:
Entry 2, born 1 December 1842, the official christening never happened so he crossed out that column, child's name Eli, ditto for born in marriage, the father is the tenant farmer Tørres Tørresen and wife Christi Johannesdatter of Indreland, the child died.. no christening done in the church, the home christening was performed on 13 December 1842 by Anbjørn Olsen Sørtved.
The death and burial record reads from the left:
Entry 4, died 16 December 1842, buried 21 December 1842 and then a second date 26 February 1843. I don't know why the pastor wrote two dates. My guess is he did a funeral service on 21 December but they waited until 26 February to inter the body. We don't know how hard the winter was. I've heard of temporarily storing a body in a casket in a barn or outbuilding until weather permitted at the churchyard. The other entries on the page have a delay of a few days or weeks which I'd guess were weather related. The name is listed as the tenant farmers daughter Eli Tørresdatter of Røgenæs. The age is listed as 14 days. Then it list the place of death as Røgenæs which is different than Indreland. I don't know why the difference? Did the pastor get confused when filling out one of the two record entries? Seems unlikely that the parents moved in the winter, although maybe that's a factor in the delayed burial date. The small word in the next column is no, meaning the person did not die from a contagious disease.
