The BYU Family History Technology Lab is one of my favorite sites to use when I want to “play around”. By using “relationship finder” I found that I’m related to Brigham Young (so...NOW can y’all “grandfather” me in? 🤣 jk), Princess Leah (Carrie Fisher) is a cousin, Jimmy Carter is my 6th cousin. You guys should try it out, you can find it in FS Solutions Gallery, or click the link for the website which has additional fun things to try like one page pedigree and tree sweeper. There’s also other fun stuff including games like “geneapordy” I guess I should also share this over at @Family History Research

Relarive Finder Home page:

It really is a very cool tool - I have also used it.
but one needs to consider the fact that just because it finds a link
doesnt always mean that the linter-relationship has been proven and/or supported by primary evidence. depending on the number of generations between two people - - the higher the number - the greater the odds that somewhere therein is a relationship that may be questionable.

I am in a couple of facebook groups where they use the relative finder.. what I found was legit when I traced back....... It is a cool site! We need to set something for communities to see if any of us are remotely related

yes - would be be nice to set up a group within community that are configured to see each others inter-relations between us.
deciding what is "legit" is not always straight-forward and "black and white". Just because all the dates line up - doesnt mean its true.
BUT over all - my impression - - I think the majority of interconnections are actually based on the truth. But I have seen some that were not.
