Is the document online, or do you have a paper copy, or a pdf already?

It is online on AmericanAncestors.

Have you used a snipping tool? If you can see the whole document, you can snip it and then highlight or draw a circle around a particular area. You can use Snippet for free, I like Snagit, but you have to pay for it. Also, you can connect it to FamilySearch from AmericanAncestors using RecordSeek. https://youtu.be/GVs_9B1423k

If you had physical documentation, you could highlight the information about your relative yourself and then upload/download it to your desktop, and then upload it to Family Search. It sounds like it's on a website. If it's possible, you could print it, highlight, and upload. The process is a little lengthy but it's one of the many ways you could do it. Hopefully this helps.

there is definitely no need to print something to only highlight it and then scan it back into the computer
Windows comes with a tool that allows capturing a copy of the screen
and then high-lighting or marking the copied image
and then you can save it your computer and / or upload to FamilySearch. No need to be wasting paper and a ton of ink! See this video on how to use the "Snipping Tool" that comes FREE with Windows

I'm sure MACS have a similar option.
learning how to use an image-capture and edit utility - comes in extremely handy
really a "must learn" for the digital genealogist!
"Record Seek" is also a utility definitely worth looking into

If using Record Seek, first copy the ID number of the person in Family Search that you want to add the source, then go to the source and highlight the important part. At that point, when you click the Record Seek extension that you previously added, it will add the highlighted part into one of the sections.

For Windows 10 users with the current version there is a new tool called Snip and Sketch.
- Launch it by holding down the Windows Logo key and the Shift key and then press the "S" to capture an area of your screen.
- A window opens with your screen capture allowing you to mark it up with tools (Ball Point pen, pencil, or highlight).
- You can also crop, erase, zoom in, save, copy, share, open, or print it.
