Clarification, are the two people in the Birth record and Confirmation record the same person?

Birth record for Peter Nicolaj Gregorius Petersen of Aursnes LCMD-F8N, Father Peter Jacobsen Aursnes, Mother Agnete Marie Jensdatter April 18 1829, entry #17 https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/2254/14229/8

Confirmation record for Peter Nicolaj Gregorius Petersen of Aursnes, Father Peter Jacobsen Aursnes, Mother Nikoline Petersdatter enrty #24 https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/2254/14229/8

This is confusing to me. Is this really the same person, and if so why the different mother's names on the two records? Especially since all children's confirmations before him and after him have the Mother the same as his birth record, Agnete M Jensdatter.

Did you look to see if Agnete Marie jensdatter dies and Peter Jacobsen remarries a Nikoline Petersdatter? It is possible the priest made an error.

Yes, Agnete Marie doesn't die till 1886. And the younger siblings to Peter Nicolai have the same mother, Agnete Marie Jensdatter. Also all confirmation records of his older and younger siblings have the mother listed as Agnete Marie Jensdatter. He is the only one with the mother's name as Nicoline on the confirmation. And his birth record says his mother is Agnete Marie Jensdatter. I've been trying to see if there was a mistake, maybe the priest or clerk wrote a witnesses name instead of his mother, maybe there was a divorce. But I cannot find any reason why his mother's name should be different in the two records. As Nicoline Pedersdatter is not in any other record that I've found. And the census records for this county and years from 1825-1840 only have farm names, and numbers in columns as to how many people lived on that farm and what their ages were. This is confusing.

That's what I thought too. I just wanted clarification as the names of the mother's are different. And I've looked for divorce, or death, and a new wife, and nothing matches up. Even the older and younger siblings information, both birth and confirmation records list Agnete Marie Jensdatter. Peter Nicolai Gregorius Petersen is a middle child, and the only one listed only on the confirmation, with a different mother. What a puzzle.

I have seen mother's listed incorrectly on confirmation records sometimes. My guess is that there is simply an error on Peter's confirmation record. Since all of the other records you have list the correct mother, and you have looked at all of the siblings thoroughly, it seems to that it's just an error. Errors did happen once in a while in my experience.
