How to index birth record if the surname was later changed?
I am currently indexing Jewish birth records from the 19th century, and the surnames were very often changed later on to a Hungarian surname (and added to the birth record). Is there syntax using which I can indicate both surnames while indexing?

Hi,
It is a good question. I have similar problem because my indexing project contains pages written in Cyrillic letters and I not so good to read this. "Slovensko, Prešov—štátny . . ." greek catholic records.
Although in the right upper corner there is a "feedback" button so we can use it.

Hello,
I already asked this question a couple of weeks ago. I was told to index just the original names, and do not deal with any later changes mentioned in additional notes. It is actually mentioned in the instructions as well.

I must have missed that part (there was general part about aliases where they wrote to to indicate "surnameA vagy surnameB"). It seems a bit counterintuitive to disregard the new surnames completely because if you search for your ancestors you are more likely to know the new surname only. So if only the original name is indexed you are less likely to make the connection. Just a thought.

Its better to send a feedback I guess. What I mentioned is a general instruction, and I just referred to the answer I got.
