How was geographical closenesses connected to marriages in the 1900s?
My great grandfather (1900-1966) was living first in Hovej, then in Rakos. Both villages are in Sopron county. His wife, my greatgrandmother (1905-1969) is still a mystery, because there is only her grave in the cemetery of Rakos. Any idea, please?

Hi, I think Rakos is Fertőrákos close to Sopron. Googlemaps link:

Hovej maybe Hövej not to far from Sopron. Googlemaps:
If he was roman catholic register in Himod: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&placeId=76242&query=+place:"Hungary, Sopron, Himod"

People managed to meet and marry spouses from other places all the time. I suspect it was often "friend of a friend"-based introductions. One fairly common pattern is that the wedding was most often in the bride's hometown. (It was her parents paying for it, after all.)
Hövej had neither a church nor a registrar locally; both were in Himod. FamilySearch has the church records for Himod from 1765 to 1895, and the civil registrations from 1895 to 1911 (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1125774). The latter has not been indexed, but if you know your ggf's approximate birthdate, you should be able to find his birth record by browsing through the images.
The civil registers for Fertőrákos (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1125631) are likewise only available up to 1911, unfortunately, so if your ancestors got married there, you're not going to be able to find a record of it.
