Looking for information if possible on Great Grandfather Lancashire area 1898.
Just trying to learn a bit about this genealogy/family tree stuff.
Going through some information left by my mom I come across the mention of one Ellis Wilkinson born June 1863 married 1885 and died 1898. Then noticed a one word note after his name "murdered"! He was married to a Sabina Smith born May 1, 1865
I also have information that the Wilkinson side of my family lived in the Lancashire area from at least 1836 when my Great Great Grandfather Lord Wilkinson was born, Lord being his name not Title!
Any help, ideas or even thoughts much appreciated.

Here is what is in the the 'Civil Registration' for, both, "Birth"; and, "Death", of the 'General Registry Office' ( GRO ) of 'England and Wales' through the 'On-Line' Search facility.

You would have to obtain a "Copy" of the "Death Certificate" from the GRO to confirm "Cause of Death".

An electronic "PDF" copy of the aforementioned ONLY costs £7.

If the "Cause of Death" was "Murder" you would need to find a "Coronial" (ie. "Judicial") copy of the "Inquest" into his Death - that is another matter.

As to his "Marriage" and Spouse / Wife in 1885.

That looks like is a "Lavina SMITH" and/or "Lavinia SMITH", not "Sabina SMITH".

And, I think that this might be the Death Registration for his Father, "Lord WILKINSON".

There are "Sources" in 'FamilySearch' for those (Births, Death and Marriages), that can be attached to the respective individuals/persons in "Family Tree".

Thanks for the reply and information. The dates and most things do match so yes I would say that is the person in question.
Do you know how one could contact GRO via email to see if there is a way to get the further information and pay for it electronically? 7 pounds might be high just for a PDF file but I've spent that much on crazier things!
As for "Coronial" (ie. "Judicial") copy of the "Inquest" into his Death" I'm guessing that might be more involved, but if you have any information on that let me know.

You DO NOT have to contact the 'General Registry Office' ( GRO ) of 'England and Wales' by e-mail, far from it.
.
You simply "Register" as a "User".
It is FREE, to register.
And, it is free to view/access the "Indexes" for "Birth" and "Death" registrations.
[ By the way, unfortunately, the Marriage registration are not the same ].
The ONLY cost in involved is if you want a Certificate.
"Hard-Copies" of the registrations are more expensive from £11 to £35, plus.
Those "PDF" copies are the cheapest.
And, I might add that the latter is great for genealogy/family history purposes.

ps: By the way, the Birth registrations include the Mothers's MAIDEN 'Family Name' / 'Surname' [where the Birth was NOT illegitimate] all the way back to the start of Civil Registration back in the Third Quarter of 1837.
