Where I find please....
Hello everyone! Kindly if someone can help me?
I have been looking for a Spitzer Family. My grandmother Emilie Spitzer, married Kestenbaum, was born in Panscova in 1885. I am looking for their relatives in Vojvodina-Banat; in Serbia. Does anyone know if exist an online birth data from that area?
If anyone can help...I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Hello Astid,
Although Pantschowa is referenced as a village, it is much larger than most Banat villages. This area was hit particularly hard in 1945 when the Serbian partisans came through. So unfortunately, many of the records were damaged or are missing.
In searching my limited RC records for Pantschowa in 1885 I do not see KESTENLBAUM or SPITZER in a marriage record. This leads me to some questions.
- A surname with the "BAUM" ending is very uncommon in the Banat. How certain are you that this was the name at the time of their marriage?
- What is the religion at the time of the marriage?
- What is the groom's given name?
- How did you determine the marriage year of 1885?
- How certain are you that the marriage took place in 1885?
- Do you have a specific birth date for any other KESTENLBAUM or SPITZER family members between the years 1840-1885 that can be used to validate if these surnames are in the Pantschowa records?
It strikes me that Pantschowa may not actually be the village, rather it is the nearest large community mentioned by Banaters as a point of reference that could easily be located.
Let me know what other info you have so I may attempt to assist you.

Hello Eileen,
Thank you for your reply,
Although it seems there is a bit of a confusion, as my grandma Emilie/Emilia Spitzer was born on the 30th August 1885 in Panscova.
She didn’t marry in Panscova, she married in Vienna with my grandpa named Kestenbaum, but he wasn’t from Panscova either.
I would like to know if there is any records from my grandma Emilie Spitzer and her brother Izidor Spitzer who was born on the 9th January 1878 also in Panscova, they were Jewish.
Thank you.
