Hello, I have been trying to research my family history for several years without much luck. My grandfather was born in Portole, Italy, but when i search for that area, all i see is a hotel.

I have pictures of a church there where my ancestors are located, where a tombstone is engraved with the year 1665, there is also another photo of a stone in the same church, but it is not legible (photo's were taken in 1978 when we were there). I was told by my cousin that this person was a notary from Florence, but i can't find any info. My grandfathers name was Angelo Franceschini, born December 9, 1894, in Portole as far as i know. There is so much i would like to learn, but find it difficult being so far away (Canada) any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave Franceschini
