Want to see a FOUR YEAR trend for your ward?
Try the Key Indicators and Trends report as referenced in section 4.3 of the Handbook.
https://lcr.churchofjesuschrist.org/report/key-indicators?lang=eng
- What it measures. It shows the % of ward members submitting ordinances in the last 12 months.
- For example, 2020 Q1 shows the % of ward members who submitted a temple ordinance between 2019 Q2 and 2020 Q1.
- Range. You can select a range of 1 to 16 (!) quarters -- a 4 year trend!
- Why would it ever go down? This means that many members submitted an ordinance more than 12 months ago and haven't submitted since. For example, if it drops off in 2019 Q3, this means that many members submitted in 2018 Q3 and didn't do anything since. Also, members who submitted and move out can lower the %.
- How is this different than the Family History Activity Report?
- This report is based on %, not # of members. This is helpful as wards grow and shrink or are split.
- This report shows % in the last 12 months, not cumulative within a single year, so it doesn't start over every January.
- Quarterly, not monthly.
- I can't tell if this report is at just a ward level or also available at a stake level. My calling is at the ward level.
Anyway, take a look!

Cool! Thanks for sharing this @Taggart Barron. I think a lot of us like to compare trends and set goals based on key indicators. This is exciting to have for sure!

@Taggart Barron Wow - great post! My high councilor shares the FHAR with me for my ward and the stake, so I at least have a idea of what's going on in my ward and the overall stake. But just like the FHAR, I'm not one of those privileged to see the Key Indicators or Trends (I'm "only" a FHC leader -- formerly known as "director" 😉 ). I wish more leaders from the ward T&FH leader all the way up to the quorum and Relief Society leaders, not to mention bishoprics and stake leaders, would be using not only the FHAR, but also these key indicators and trends. As a FHC leader, before the COVID19 shutdown I had occasions to talk with a number of leaders (before the virus shutdown), and found that many did not even know what the FHAR is. I know our high councilor has been doing extensive training, but somehow the "eyes to see and ears to hear" clause seems to keep popping up. I'm a bit of a stats geek, and would have a field day with that kind of data. Numbers mean things, and numbers can speak volumes if those looking at them are only listening.
Great post - I just wish I could access the chart and play with the data. It could be so useful.
