Translation Request, please

Hi,

This is my great grandfather, Oreste Lodi, number 6, near the bottom of the document and my great, great grandparents (Luigi Lodi, number 1 and Adelaide Pellegrini, number 2).

I know that this is a lot to ask but I’d like to get a complete translation for this document if possible, it would be very much appreciated!

I do have the names and birth dates of everyone so you won’t need to translate those.

Is there a way, possibly to translate this document by line number and name, as well as what is written under each column for that line (that has information)? For an example: Line 1 & 2, Luigi and Adelaide, under Stato it says…That would be very, very helpful!

Also:

Is there a way to find out when this census was taken? It must have been taken sometime after 1883.

Does this document give the address and/or the name of the commune that they were living in (because I’d like to get the name of the church so that I can get their birth and marriage records)?

You're asking for quite a lot here.

The column headings:
- order number
- can they write?
- 1 surname
- 2 given name
- 3 names of parents
- 4 condition (profession)
- 5 date of birth
- 6 marital status
- 7 place of birth
- 8 for births in another town: where they came from, when they arrived
- 9 changes after the compilation of the register
- 10 observations
- 11 changes in house number (house number, date entered; date left)
- male / female

Luigi is son of Vincenzo and of deceased Maria Antonia Urangia. He is an elementary schoolteacher. He married Adelaide in Governolo (frazione of Roncoferraro) on 8(?) Oct 1859. He was born in Volta Mantovana, and arrived from Palermo 27 May 1882. His father is living in Volta Mantovana.

Adelaide is daughter of Pietro and of deceased Teresa Maltini. She is a seamstress, born in Mantova.

Their children (named after famous Greek characters):

• Senofonte is a corporal major in the 9th infantry, born in Governolo, previously living in Udine
• Antenore is a soldier in the 68th infantry, born in Governolo, previously living in l'Aquila; in 1883 was being detained in some location in Venezia
• Adone is a tailor, born in Breno(?) (no doubt a frazione of some town), previously living in Palermo
• Oreste is a shoemaker, born in Breno, previously living in Palermo
• Empedocle is a student, born in Sutera in Caltanissetta province, previously living in Palermo

Awesome, cousin Vinny! So sorry I didn't get back to you when you responded back on 4-10-25, I figured that I would get a notice, while on Family Search's main site, that someone had responded but I didn't see anything, so I decided to check today. Now I know that I'll need to log into this site each time to check. ☺️

Yes, I realize that that was a lot to ask for and I felt bad asking for that much information but I really, really do appreciate all of your help with this and I must say that you went way beyond what I had ever expected, Wow!

Interesting, I didn't know that their children were named after famous Greek characters! I never did study Greek mythology.

So I'm guessing that these documents don't give the street address or the name of the commune that they were in at the time of the survey? The reason that I'm asking is that I was trying to narrow down which diocese that they may have attended so that I can try to contact them.

Thanks Vinny! I'll have to check again but if I remember correctly there were several churches in that area.😊
