den 5 Aprilis ward begraben
Philipp Horlacher von Hopfich, ward gebohren vor ungefahr 66 iahren; lebte im ledigen Stand 30 Jahr; besas 3 underschidliche ehen; In der ersten ein jahr, erzeuget ein Kind, ist Gott ergeben. In der andren 15 iahr, erzeugte 6 Kinder, 3 Söhne, 3 töchter, davon noch ein Sohn bey leben. In der dritten ehe lebte er 19 Jahr, erzeugte 10 KInder, davon noch 3 töchterlein leben. War fromb, gottesfürchtig, frindlich, dienstbar. Ist allhir krank worden, lag 3 Wochen, das H. Abendmahl würdiglich empfangen, eifrig gebetet, gedultig gewesen, sein end mit dem gebet beschloßen. Und in Christo selig eingeschlafen am Montag abends zwischen 8 und 9 Uhr.

Translation:

In the year of Christ 1637.
On April 5th was buried
Philipp Horlacher from Hopfich (Hopfach), born about 66 years ago; he lived unmarried for 30 years; had 3 different marriages; one year in the first [marriage], he fathered one child, which is dedicated to God (i.e. died). In his second marriage of 15 years he had 6 children, 3 sons, 3 daughters, of whom one son is still alive. In his third marriage he lived 19 years and fathered 10 children, of whom 3 little daughters are still alive. He was pious, God-fearing, kind and subservient. Here he fell ill, lay for 3 weeks, received Holy Communion worthily, prayed fervently, was patient and closed his end with prayer. And on Monday evening between 8 and 9 o'clock he fell asleep blessed in Christ.

Note that the indexer in Ancestry read the name as "Philipp Ferdinand von Foppich" ;-)

I think Hopfach is mentioned in the death record as the birthplace of Philipp Horlacher. This does not necessarily mean that he lived there at the time of his death. Hopfach was only a small hamlet (German: Weiler) according to the entry in Meyers, it did not even have its own church or parish. See the "Ecclesiastical" tab in the Meyers entry for Hopfach for the nearest churches.

It appears most likely that he lived, died and was buried in the parish of Sankt Michael in Hall, but there is probably no longer a gravestone because in Germany graves are only preserved for a limited period of time (approx. 20-30 years) and are then re-occupied.

As always, thank you very much. Is it possible to determine where an individual actually died and was buried? In this case, Philipp was from Hopfach but his death/burial are recorded in the Totenbuch for Sankt Michael's parish. Is it reasonable to presume that Philipp actually died and was buried at home in Hopfach and the entry in St. Michael's Totenbuch simply documents the fact?
