Jens KHM7-N6V vs. Jons LLH7-BCQ I am trying to decide whether or not to merge these 2 men.
I am trying to decide whether or not to merge these 2 men.
Jens is my relative, but there is a merge option with a Jons. Same place and birth date, but No sources for him or any of the possible siblings. Are the names Jens and Jons interchangeable? Also, the birth and christening dates seem confused. Thanks for your help!

It is not uncommon for birth and christening dates to get confused, especially in an indexed record. Jons is not a common name, and if the name comes from an indexed record it might have been transcribed wrong. I would suggest looking at the sources for these two men. If there are no original sources attached (not transcribed), looking for their christening records in a church book would be preferable. There are several online sites depending on which country your Jens comes from.

It does look like the same person. Jens and Jons are just easy transcription mistakes and the christening records for that time are barely legible - I can see what I think must be the record in question but I can't see either Jens or Jons :-)
You better be careful when you start merging though. Jens KHM7-N6V 's father Peder Rasmussen KZRK-2RM has 4 possible duplicates and Peder LLH7-BCM who is Jon's father has 13!!
It's to make a mess so I usually use a piece of paper to record all the possibles before I make any changes.
It seems fairly common that multiple parents get created when a series of siblings get added to the tree from christening records.

6th Søndag efter Påske (22 May) christened Peder Rasmusen and wife Karen Rasmusdatter i Ebbelnes, their son Jens. It should be noted that the FS record shows a birth four days after the christening, this is an error of course.
