My question is where might I find birth or baptismal records for Witkowica, Czechoslavakia?
In researching my family, I recently found U.S. naturalization documents for a couple of family members (Jedriej Baka and Julia Baka) that I thought were born in Poland but per the documents were born in Witkowica, Czechoslavakia. Per the information I have Jedriej was born 20 Jun 1903 and Julia was born on 5 Apr 1905. Both immigrated with their mother Katarzyna via Bremen Germany on 5 Dec 1905. Their last place of residence was listed as Gwozdziec Poland.

The closest I could find on genteam.at which is a gazetteer for Czechia is Witkowitz also known as Vitkovitz. Unfortunately there are more than one. Genteam is free but you must register. If you pull up the search then the page icon on the left side of the page will provide more info with a link to the archives.
There also is a link to Czechia cities and towns on Wikipedia. W and V are interchangeable : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_and_towns_in_the_Czech_Republic#O
There also is a list on FamilySearch of Czech Republic parishes: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Czech_Republic_Parishes:_W_-_Z
I am sorry I could not find a direct match but often there are mistakes spelling the town's name. If I can help you in any way, let me know. Good luck!.
Sincerely

I have used GenTeam a lot, but there was a bit of a learning curve. I used a How to Guide. Here is how to find it. If you go to Family Search menu bar "Search" and click on Research Wiki, in the search bar, enter Austria "How to" Guides. It will give you a list of three guides, one of which is the GenTeam Gazetteer Online - Instruction, Activity, Answer Key. Or just click on this link that came up, ha, ha! It really helped me understand and use the wonderful GenTeam site. The other guides are helpful also. Good luck!!

Again, thank you. You have answered a couple of my family unknowns.

Thank you Thomas. Kapcie agrees with the information I have found in various documentation.

Thomas Peters, how did you determine which Vitkovice please?

I must admit I thought it might be Witkowce (Ropczyce) which is near Gwozdziec (Brzesko) Poland at first. Kept wondering though why they kept saying Czechoslovakia so I figured it must be one of the villages in Czechia (Czech Rep.). Used the Gemeindelexikon der im Reichsrate Vertretenen Konigreiche und Lander Lexikon which is available as a download via familysearch and determined that there were 4 possibilities:
Witkowitz (Bischofteinitz, Horsny Tyn)
Witkowitz (Klattau, Klatovy)
Witkowitz (Luditz, Zlutice)
Witkowitz (Rochlitz, Roketnice)
Also determined from an internet search that there was a Vitkovice, Ostrava in Moravia. This place turned out to be the one of interest.
Most of these places had records available online via the various Czech websites.
I use this website to get a feel for the area in the Czech Republic where the village is located and then go to what would seem to be the correct website:

Thanks again Tom for your detective work. I'm a novice when it comes to searching Polish records and have not ventured into Czech records. From various researches, the Bakas moved quite a bit, even within a given town. Again Thanks for the insights.

The records for Joseph Baka will be in Debno, Poland:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/728874?availability=Family%20History%20Library
Some are available via your local family history center; most are only available in Salt Lake City.
The records for Katerina Kapcie will be in Wisnicz Nowy:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/817420?availability=Family%20History%20Library
The records are not digitized and only available on microfilm at the Family History Library in SLC or here: Archiwum Diecezjalne w Tarnowie.

Would church records for Maryinskie Hory, Czechoslovia be the same as Vitkovice area or is there another area that I should be looking for records? Another sibling of Julie indicated on naturalization documentation that she (Maryanna) was born there on 2 Dec 1906.

Once I have determined the village possibilities using the above mentioned gazetteer, I then consult this list of parishes:
Czech Republic Parish Finder Genealogy - FamilySearch Wiki
Once I have the parish, I check to see what area of the Czech Republic we are dealing with. Once I have that I use this link to find the records:

All of the parishes in Ostrava-mesto:
The parish of Marianske Hory:
Unfortunately, the baptisms end in 1904. I do know that Marianna Baka was not born /baptized in Vitkovice parish.

I checked the remainder of the files contained in the archive that contained Julie's baptism and the records did not go as far as Dec 1906.

Unfortunately I am not finding Jedriej. He should have appeared here: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9MW-F1V8?i=4&wc=3NZT-JWT%3A979674501%2C979679303%2C979673001%2C981096301&cc=1804263

I don't know what occupation a hornik or a Novnik is. I use this list a lot for occupations.
It looks like all your ancestors from this line are from Czechia.

Boy, I sure missed that one. I was looking at Father's names too as I thought that would be easier to spot. Thanks

That's good that you figured out where the records overlapped. Now go find the births of the parents but they will be in different parishes. Use genteam.at to learn more about those parishes. It states a marriage date in Vitkovice that you should be able to find. I have posted some more helps over on the Czechia FamilySearch Community site. If you need more help, please feel free to ask.
