What would I need to do to verify information attached in FS Family tree OR discount the whole thing
I have attached the following Discussion to Henry Waters' account (KN77-ZS8). I cannot seem to locate the records I need to prove or disprove my theory that Henry's life as pictured on this tree is incorrect. Does it not seem very suspicious that a couple aged 16 and 14 would marry in England in 1833? It seems to me they typically married much later at that time.
Also, the 1851 Census that is attached to this couple indicates that Henry was born in Wiltshire, Downton, where the whole family listed in the census was also born. However, MY Henry was born in Pinvin, Worcestershire County about 105 miles away!
The attached "Discussion:"
"Actually, Henry was NOT listed in the 1841 Census with his family. He has not yet been located in any other census record for that year.
The attached marriage record, July 1833 in Downton, Wiltshire, England is also highly suspicious. Henry would have been only 16 years of age; Elizabeth would have been only 14 years of age. The marriage took place in Wiltshire County, where Elizabeth lived, but was over 100 miles from the place Henry was born and raised in Worcestershire County.
Census, marriage and birth records indicate there was an Elizabeth King who married a Henry Waters in Wiltshire. I do not believe these records are attached to the correct individuals, Henry OR Elizabeth.
In addition, there is a GRO Death Index for a Henry Waters who died in Sep Quarter of 1849 at Merthyr Tydfil Registration District, on the boarder of Glamorganshire and Breconshire counties. That is approximately 80 miles from Henry's home in Pinvin, Worcestershire. I don't know if this is correct either, but it would explain why Henry did not emmigrate with most of the rest of his family in January of 1852 to the United States."
I would appreciate any help, advice, or perspective that anyone could provide to me!
Thank You!

Hello I am an experienced researcher in family history. In 1833 the minimum age for marriage was 16 for males and 14 for females. However parents would be required to allow the marriage.I would check the parish registers to see what they contain and check the birth of bride and groom.I would look at the 1841 census again to see where the. Bride's family lived and where the groom's family were.Is there any record on later census of the couple to show if they had children and where they were born. Unfortunately I have found that a lot of information on this site is suspect and guess work My advice to any researcher is assume nothing and check everything.Good luck Stuart Bailey
