german translation
Is someone able to translate this birth record (#2) for Peter Hofmann? I'm wondering if his mother's name is written. (Schafer?) I also don't know what the notation in the left column is.
Thank you!
Christine

Hello @Christine8152,
Translation:
No. 2. Birth Record.
Heusweiler in the District of Saarbrücken on the second of the month of January 1861 at 10:00 am appeared before me Mayor Franz Boelsch as the civil registrar of the Heusweiler Mayoralty Distric: Johann Hoffmann, 33 years old, occupation cartwright, residing in Obersalbach, who declared to me that from his wife Barbara Schäfer, 36 years old, residing in Obersalbach, on the second of January of this year [1861] at 3:00 am in his residence in Obersalbach a child of the male gender was born who was given the forename Peter.
This statement which I have recorded in duplicate was made in the presence of two witnesses, namely: (1) Georg Maerker, 47 years old, occupation knifesmith, residing in Heusweiler; (2) Jakob Feld, 40 years old, occupation day laborer, residing in Walpershofen.
The present document has been read to the declarant and the witnesses and signed by me with the same.
[Signatures left-to-right: father; first witness; second witness; mayor/registrar].
Note in left margin: The death record for Peter Hoffmann is recorded in the Heusweiler Civil Registry Office, death record no. 103 for the year 1927.
