Working back in time adding ancestors to connect with current working area in the FamilySearch tree
I am working on trying to bring the RootsMagic GEDCOM file up to parity with what is in the FamilySearch Family Tree so I can begin working on the same people in these two trees. I have the View Relationship open in an Edge browser and the RootsMagic CET file open in Chrome. For the time being, I am ignoring the lack of standardization on my imported RootsMagic file. It is probably a good idea that I imported this older RootsMagic file because that is likely to happen many times as people add trees to the CET. My RootsMagic/CET ends several generations before my part of the FamilySearch.org Family Tree. For subsequent generations, I have add the people from the FamilySearch Family Tree (multiple copies of the entries in different windows on different browsers to keep the needed information to trace the lineage back available on my two screens. I also need an extra screen to write these discussion topics. A lot of this time spent could be avoided if I had a working GEDCOM file to use from Ancestry.com. But I can assume that many of the files that are uploaded to the CET will be different than was is already part of the FamilySearch.org Family Tree and will require a lot of busy work to become useful CET. As I keep working adding people to my CET, I suspect that some people will experience the same frustration. This would be even more serious if the uploaded tree disagreed with the FamilySearch.org. In any event, it appears that there are three possibilities: the uploaded tree is not as complete as the FamilySearch Family Tree, the uploaded tree is more complete than the FamilySearch Family Tree , or the uploaded tree is significantly different from the FamilySearch Family Tree. In each of these cases, the person uploading the file will either decided it isn't worth effort, will stop working on fixing the FamilySearch family tree and will add people to the uploaded CET which may be different to duplicates to the Family Tree and lastly will ask for temple work to be done which will either duplicate work already done of the Family Tree or not.
