Gertrude Traud b. 1841 Herbstein-- question on parents
Hello,
Gertrude's baptismal record (see below) lists Nikolaus and Sabina Bargers as her parents and shows Gertrude's alias is Bargers. What does that mean? Also, Gertrude's marriage record (see further below) shows Emerentiana Traud as her mother. Is Sabina or Emerentiana her mother?
thanks

Hi,
The name "Nikolaus Bärgers" is just a transcription error. There is a comment on the right side of the church book that introduces the name "Traud". Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500-1971; https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSCJ-H957-C?cc=3015626
The word after "Nikolaus" is the German word "Bürger" (citizen).I think it also says on the right side that the birth was illegitimate. Does that make sense?
Kind regards

It might. If Nikolaus conceived Gertrude with Emerentiana (see Gertrude's wedding record) and he and wife Sabina raised Gertrude as their own. Of course, I'm just speculating. Thanks for responding and the explanation.

You definitely need to get a good complete translation of the birth record that @hehesani63 posted. I clearly see the name Emerentia Traud( in) in the third line (carried over into the fourth line). The record is too difficult and confusing to me but there are excellent volunteers on this site who can make some sense of it.

Thanks, I'll do request a translation. I have the record and will post it.
