New term "pedigree"
I've been using FS intensely for a couple of years... Pedigree is now being used, which is a new term for me.
It would be helpful if the software gave a hint (maybe a hover bubble, or a popup when you start the first time) explaining how to disambiguate the public familytree, the private familytree, the familygroup familytree, and the pedigree -- either each are distinct or some are the same or some overlap? It isn't jumping out at me. Sometimes it prompts for me to add to the familygroup tree and sometimes it prompts for me to add to the pedigree -- I'm not understanding it

@Bill Kaczmarek Thank you for noting that terminology is not consistent. Any chance you could send screenshots of these differences?

Thanks. The term Pedigree, that confused me, came up when I was copying folks to the Family Group Tree, I believe, and likely while using the Sibling View. I wasn't able to remember how to recreate it now. Sorry - but if I find it again, I'll share it with you.
Should I start separate postings for each of these two issues? Is that preferred?
1) I added to the Family Group tree someone at random, to try to find the answer for you, for your question above. But now I'm stuck. How do I remove someone from a Family Group Tree? I couldn't find it :-/
2) I keep clicking on and getting frustrated - could you change the label on the link from "Edit Group" to "Edit Group Details" instead. (See yellow screenshot). As is, I always want to use it to edit the group MEMBERS, based on the wording. (btw some confusion with Family Group Tree Members (190 of them) vs Group Members (3 of them)
Now I see the next link - "Message Group" would be better as "Message the Group Members", to be consistent. Or even better perhaps, Message the Group Participants.
"Message Group" wasn't clear to me immediately, whether that would message tree members (190) or group members (3). Maybe better to use consistently the terms "tree persons" and "group participants" (see 2nd screen shot, for "participants" used in chat.) And never use the ambiguous term
Group Members. Or maybe use "Tree Members" and "Tree Participants" (for the Family Group Tree)Screenshot is from this URL:

Yes, Please create a separate post for each issue you run into. It is easier to send through to the product team that is creating the Family Group Trees.

I had mentioned being confused by the term "pedigree" ... and now it just popped up for me here:
I got there just now: I was looking at someone who is alive, who is a person in my FamilyGroup, and clicked to switch to Sibling view... as best that I can recall, that's what I had done. At any rate, the error above then popped up.
..............
So? Are the horizontal and vertical and sibling etc, those various VIEWS, are those referred to by the system as "pedigrees"??? Otherwise I still don't know what that term refers to??
And on this particular error, what would it mean to "go to a new group pedigree"?
What would it mean to "continue to this pedigree"?
I cannot recreate the error now, and I exited out of it so don't know where either option would have taken me.
Might be an opportunity to polish / clarify. (If I see this again, I'll share how to recreate it.)
....................
But I guess the Sibling View does show up in the FS tree if you jump to FS from FG tree.
But I think the Sibling View didn't show up in the FS tree at first - maybe that is just because I hadn't activated the Lab yet during the session? (I recall NOT seeing the Sibling view in FS, and then was suprised to see it available a little while later.)

Thank you, @Bill Kaczmarek! I am able to duplicate that! I will send to our product team to review the terminology.
But, yes, pedigree just means a listing of ancestors/descendants. In the case here on FamilySearch, the Fan chart, Landscape, Portrait, Descendancy, First Ancestor views are all different ways that you can view your ancestors and descendants. So all of them are pedigree charts.
And yes, initially when you looked at the menu of charts while you were in the FamilySearch Tree you did not see the Sibling tree. Now, for those who have joined the Family Group Trees experiment, it shows on that menu. However, if you are looking at a Family Group Tree, it has the Fan, Descendancy and First Ancestor charts greyed out and unclickable as they are not ready to work with Family Group Trees yet.

Thanks @AnneLoForteWillson Helpful.
Fwiw when you write that "pedigree just means a listing of ancestors/descendants" , that makes perfect sense. And the various pedigree charts or views are different ways of looking at the very same listing of ancestors/descendants — in other words you are NEVER looking at a different pedigree! They are different charts or views of the same pedigree, right?! (In other words, the error message is wrong when it says "the pedigree is not available". The "pedigree" is certainly available!! Doesn't it mean to say that this "view" or "chart" is not available? …for pedigrees in the FamilyGroup Lab. Options then would be Continue to a different "view" or "chart" or to the … I'm still not clear what is meant by the listed options as worded… maybe "exit the FamilyGroup Lab view"??
No need to respond… just trying to be helpful.

You are right! Those are some good words that might give our message writer some ideas! Thanks for your suggestions.
