Wieringen Marriage
My ancestors Frans Pot(t) and Bregje Gerrits Spreeuw married on 24 November 1754 in Wieringen, in the Catholic Church.
Frans is believed to have come from Germany, while Bregje is probably from Texel. Of note is that Frans' daughter Trijntje (my ancestor) married a half-German from Texel.
However the Catholic marriage record is typically unhelpful, giving only their names. I have searched without success in Dutch Reformed/Gaarders registers in both Wieringen and Texel. A "second pair of eyes" and advice on records that may give Frans' place of origin would be much appreciated.

I used Only Frans Pot as a surname in archieven.nl,to find there is a cluster of them in Borculo. That is only about 4 km from the German border.Their names will unfold in a drop down box if you click, and sometimes showing their family and some scans. Maybe you could find some clues?
After combing tru it , we will search a bit further.

I'm aware of the IGI-era record for a Frans Pott from Steinhagen. There is no evidence to link that particular Frans Pott to Frans Pot in Wieringen, despite it being taken as a fact by several online trees.

Could this Pot (Frans Janszoon Pot) be of any interest to you, given that the location is
Wieringen , and the year is somehow in the bracket,or is this something you have already filtered yourself?

Thank you for looking.
That notarial record is from 1877, so the people mentioned will be descendants of Frans Pot.
Unfortunately I think this brick wall is not ever going to be resolved. With no record mentioning his origin and no other people in Wieringen before him with the surname Pot, we simply cannot determine where he came from.

One of the best tools to work with , is persistency.I have been searching one of my ancestors for 38 years, and then found him. But i did some searching in other engine's and other trees to find only a very lean brew, almost no work is done-
and many material is machine-genereted by software.
I do not fully agree that there were no other Pot's in Wieringen before Frans,we do not have enough material to go by or to compare. If we are working from one church book only , or 2 mentionings,...we are in a barren desert.
It is possible that he is from elsewhere, but why would we assume that,?, do we
have a clue to do that?
Given the fact that Belgium is a split-off from Nederland,we have an awfull lot of
Pot's in the registers, so many of them have Dutch ancestry.
