Can someone please translate this entry for me? It is in the death record of Johann Georg Kotz of Münchingen, Leonberg, Württemberg, Germany.

The priest is explaining the cause of his death - something about a cave-in? and a broken neck? Also note that he listed the date of burial as before the date of death. 22 Nov 1796 as the date of death is also found in Johann Georg's birth record and in the family register when he is a child.

The death/burial date confusion is obviously a clerical error. Here's the translation of the main entry -

Johann Georg, son of Johannes Koz, citizen and farmer here, had the misfortune of being covered by a rubble of earth in the clay pit, which broke his neck, so that one could detect no sign of life when he was dug out. 18 years old.

Cause of death - accident
