Why not create a Family Narrative. Write down a set of questions about yourself eg. what is my favorite color, where were my parents from, where did I go to school, what kind of ice cream do I like, what did I want to be when I grew up, when is my anniversary, etc. Give copies of your questions to your family members or other friends and have each of them write down their answers. Sit down with those who might be present or video conference with those that aren't and hear their responses and then share the correct answers. Have other members do the same thing.
You have now begun your own Family Narrative, you have found a way to be connected or reconnected with your family. Don't forget to write your Narrative down and make it part of your Family History. Don't be afraid to create your own way to connect, reconnect and stay connected.

My husband and I have never been great at keeping our own personal journals. I had a diary in high school but have no idea where it went. Had a journal in our early marriage but my children drew in it as well. Another journal when my youngest went through a horrible period in her life so do have those memories and some incredible spiritual times for me that happened. So we are actually taking the time to go from our own baby books where our own parents wrote down things and that was an eye opener...given liver at 3 months old and orange juice! Anyway, now with the coronavirus, day to day happenings are mixed in with getting up to my sixth grade memories. I've got a long way to go in my writing. Haven't even gotten to the point of where I found the gospel! A friend had recommended the book, Mom Share Your Life With Me and Grandma Tell Me Your Memories-same books for the men in the family and these basically have your types of Family Narratives in them. I think Family Narratives are wonderful for our grandchildren particularly the ones that don't live around us. It's particularly important for them to have the story of our conversion if we're nonmembers. If we are born in the gospel, I think it's important for them to also know how we are converted. That seems to be harder, in my opinion.
