I am trying to find family members for a Francesco Sanguinetti who was born in Genoa in 1845.

Genova records in 1845 are separated out by church parish. They are not computer indexed and so must be searched manually by browsing the images of the registers.
So to find him you would ideally need to know
- the parish he was baptized in (there are dozens)
- his parents names
This is assuming that the age on the cemetery marker is accurate and that he was actually born in 1845.
Also, Genova is the name of a large city as well as a province containing the city of Genova as well as 60+ separate towns, each with their own set of records. So perhaps he was born in Genova city, or just in Genova province.
You need to provide a lot more information to get any leads.

Hey Cousin Vinny,
Thanks for your response to my query about the Genova records and how they are separated out by church parish. It does make the search a bit more challenging. I do get your point that to be able to find him I would ideally need to find the parish he was baptised in and also his parents names. I will need to do a bit more research in Australia to try and get this info from any of his more direct descendants. My grandmother on my mother's side was a Sanguinetti, but she never talked about her family as I was young then. It was only after she passed away, and my mothers passing that I wanted to know about our Italian heritage.
From other records I have seen in Australia, I think the year of birth is correct. I will continue to make enquiries here in Australia to see what less I can come up with.
I am planning a trip to Italy in May next year and plan to visit Genova so it would be good to visit any relatives if I can trace them.
Once again, thank you for your help and advice.
Cheers
Paul
