Today, on the 19th of November in year 2 of the French Republic or 1793, at9 am, before me, Henrich Frey, a member of the municipality of Lauthenbach who was elected on 1 January 1793 to create the marriage records, appeared in the town hall for the purpose of marriage:
Of the one part: Gangolph Hoffmann, twenty years old, legitimate son of the hunter Johannes Hoffmann and Catharina Schieffer [?] , both living in Lauthenbach,
of the second part: Francisca Koenig, twenty-two years old, the left-behind widow of Carolus Bixel, deceased, in life a citizen of Lauthenbach.
Witnesses were:
Johannes Ackermann, "Wirth" [= either a tavern keeper or farmer], Franz Joseph Graff, a farm worker, Andreas Ackermann, baker [?], Johann Theobalt, "???halter", all living in Linthal.
Whereupon I, Jacob Frey, proceeded with reading:
- the birth record of Gangolph Hoffmann, dated the 29th of October last, which shows that he was born on 29 May 1774 to Johannes Hoffmann and Catharina Schieffer [?] in a legitimate marriage.
- The birth record of Francisca Koenig dated the 2nd of October last, which shows that she was born in Lauthenbachzell on the sixth of October 1771 to Johannes Koenig and Magdalena Donau in a legitimate marriage.
- the proclamation paper of the marriage promised between the new couple, issued by me, Heinrich Frey, on the 8th of November last and posted on the door of the town hall on the same day.
As Gangolph Hoffmann and Francisca Koenig have stated with a loud voice that they wish to take each other as husband and wife, I have declared in the name of the law that they are married and have created this record, which the parties have signed along with me. Thus happened in Lauthenbach on the day, month, and year as above.
