Requesting Translation Assistance Plus a Question
Hi Maria,
How are you? I may have been able to solve one mystery today only to create another. I was working from this information:
And found the following record which I am asking you to translate for me, but it does not appear that it contains much information:
Location: File Number 008019577 Image Number (219) and 220 of 588 Record #18
This is image 220. A darker image can be found as image 219.
It seems that the family name was changed from Jedrzejewski to Andrzejewski sometime between 1831 and 1837 before the family moved to the parish of Skulsk. Were name changes common? I believe that my second great grandfather changed his name from Bulinski to Jercha. I haven't been able to locate older records to prove this though. It also seemed like families moved around much more than my ancestors from Bohemia. (This has made it more difficult to find records.) It seems as though there may have been a great deal of persecution going on. Were people persecuted for reasons other than religion, or is it possible that my ancestors had Jewish roots?
Thank you and have a good day.
Sincerely,
Stephen

Baptismal Record No. 18, Slesin Parish, of Grzegorz Jedrzejczak, baptized on the 4th March 1805, born in Mikorzyno, son of Franciscus (Franciszek in Polish), a farm laborer, and Justyna, married couple Jedrzejczak. Godparents: Stanislaus (Stanislaw in Polish) Gorczki, a farm laborer from Wasosze, and Sophia (Zofia in Polish) Stenbanczoska.
Jędrzej is a variant Polish form of the given name Andrzej (Andrew). Jędrzej. Gender, Male. Language(s), Polish · Name day, 30 November, 16 May.
Please note that Franciszek Jedrzejczak or Andrzejczak or Andrzejewski was a farm laborer, and without ownership of land, he probably needed to move depending where he could get work.
