This is actually not a record for Peter Roeschlein personally, but a report about a fire in his barn.
Translation:
Monday, January 28, 1822, in the evening at 7 o'clock, fire broke out in Zweifelsheim in the assembled barns of Joh. Weiß and Peter Roeschlein, which devastated the barns in a few moments and threatened to destroy the residential house of Weiß, which had already begun to burn. However, with the help of the fire engine sent from here, it was happily saved by the efforts of the people who had rushed from all places. The nature of the origin of this fire remains undetermined. Since this was the first fire disaster since time immemorial that occurred in the district of the local parish, the writer took this as an occasion to speak of it in particular in the following Sunday sermon, to deal with the intentions that God might have in allowing a conflagration. Namely, to stimulate a lively feeling of the transitoriness of all earthly things in us, to admonish to caution and attention with regard to the fire, and to give the afflicted themselves the opportunity for the elevation of Christian virtues! Would only quite a lot of those who heard the word also keep it in a devout good heart and bring fruit in patience.
