How to get birth info for my mother-in-law
Hello! My mother-in-law is Latvian. She was born there in 1941. She and her parents fled Latvia when she was three because of the war. She knew her birth year (1941) but we don't quite know birth location (city). I know her family lived in Jelgava for a time. She passed away three weeks ago and I'm helping to write her obituary. I'd love some advice on how to get info on where she was born?

There are some Latvian birth records online, but 1941 may be too recent. In general, there is a 100-year privacy protection regulation.
The database on Ancestry.com stops at 1939: https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/61883/
MyHeritage has a database on internal passport holders. It stops at 1940, but you might find her parents listed. https://www.myheritage.com/research/collection-10756/
