Monatsfiaker
I read in the obituary of a very wealthy but miserly man who lived in Vienna in the 1880s to early oughts,
that the only luxury he permitted himself was a Monatsfiaker. Was this a monthly subscription for a fiacre? How much would this have cost? Did one get unlimited rides?

@A Xo According to a quick search: The monthly cost for a Monatsfiaker (yes, monthly subscription) were at fl. 225 (fl = Gulden) in 1899. The number of rides may have been 'unlimited' but there was probably a legal directive which specified the details. (For comparison – and because the article I found talked about it – a car cost fl. 5000 at the time.)

Thank you for answering!
From Grundriss der Elektrotechnik (II. Theil, 3. Buch. 2. Auflage. 1901. Seite 167.) by Heinrich Kratzert: ,,Ein Wiener Monatsfiaker kostet jährlich etwa K 5400.-"
K 5400 = $1,125 USD (1901) ⁓ $40,252 USD (2023)
so $3,354 a month in today's shrunken dollars
