Final bits of transcription needed on wonderful burial record
Wow, I hit the genealogy jackpot today! But I need help, please, with several words of transcription on this rather long burial record.
This story is amazing. As I was trying to read it, I saw that he was in the military...then saw the word Amerika...then realized he had served there during the Revolutionary War...then saw the word for "captivity"! Then read that he "luckily" made it back alive. He was married twice, with his first son being born in America. His wife died, he married again, and lost the second wife. He died of old age at 74.
The record starts on the bottom of one page and continues onto the next page. Besides help filling in the blanks here, I've got questions:
- What can you tell me about his military unit? Would I be able to find out more in records of the war about his captivity? Was his regiment fighting for the British?
- It says only his first-born son is still alive - the only one left of eight children? His wife must have gone with Georg, if the son was born in America?
- Did the first wife die in childbirth? I see something like "Kindbett..."
- There are a lot of shortened words ending in "L." Are those all shortcuts for "-lich"?
Here's what I've got, from Bayern: Landeskirchliches Archiv der Evang.-Luth. Kirche > Dekanat Windsbach > Windsbach > Bestattungen 1814 - 1848, Bild 98

The images are quite blurry and I don't have access to Archion, so my additions and corrections (in bold) are basically based on my knowledge of German language. I can't make out the last sentence. Can you please provide a better copy?

To your questions:
What can you tell me about his military unit? Would I be able to find out more in records of the war about his captivity? Was his regiment fighting for the British?
In February 1777 the margrave Christian Friedrich Karl Alexander of Ansbach-Bayreuth provided an Auxiliary Corps of 1200 man infantery to King George III of England (against payment) that was sent to America to fight for the British. Here is a report about this event (in German): http://frankenland.franconica.uni-wuerzburg.de/login/data/2002_4.pdf
It says only his first-born son is still alive - the only one left of eight children? His wife must have gone with Georg, if the son was born in America?
Yes, it seems so, although the text doesn't provide any details.
Did the first wife die in childbirth? I see something like "Kindbett..."
Yes, that's correct.
There are a lot of shortened words ending in "L." Are those all shortcuts for "-lich"?
Those are abbreviations for various standard endings, see above.

Thank you! I certainly will look into the regiment's history. Fascinating to hear that this ancestor was in America way before anybody else in my family tree.
Sorry about the scans. It's been a while since I posted a question here, and I forgot how I converted the downloaded PDFs. Try these images of just Georg's record.

Here is the conclusion of the last sentence;

Glad I could help you in your research. Here is another Wikipedia article about the German troops in the American war of independence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germans_in_the_American_Revolution
Scroll down to the paragraph entitled Ansbach-Bayreuth
