Translation Request - Alswede PR
Looking for corrections to my best translation:

4) Johan Henr. Röttger jun von Vegel und frau ehlich kind gehoren nach Levern eigen gevatter Moritz ??[seine?] broeder Nom: joh. Moritz
Is the father a "junior"?
What does the phrase "gehoren nach Levern eigen" mean?
Thank you so much!

Hello ,
You did quite well with what I consider a difficult record. Here's my translation:
In the year 1722: Baptisms.
(4) On the first Sunday after Epiphany, the 11th of January [1722], a legitimate child of Johan Henr. Röttger the younger of "Vegel." and his wife, belonging to Levern, [was baptized]. Baptismal sponsor: Moritz Wisbroeker?. [Child's] name: Joh: Moritz.
Comments: Levern is a place approximately 5 miles northwest of Alswede: https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20059056
I checked a calendar for January 1722 and the first Sunday after Epiphany (which fell on Tuesday, 6 Jan 1722) was Sunday, 11 January 1722.
Your questions:
Is the father a "junior"? Yes, indicating that he is the younger of two men with the same name in the same area, but not necessarily father and son.
What does the phrase "gehören nach Levern eigen" mean? This literally translates as: "belongs to Levern own". I translated this as: belonging to Levern. The word "eigen" [= own] has me puzzled. Perhaps another volunteer can help out with this phrase.

Thank you! The church records for this parish has unique spellings of places, depending on the minister. So "Vegel" is actually Vehlage, a small village where this family lived in No. 46.
Thank you for the transcription of "Moritz Wisbroeker" -- I can definitely see that now. Moritz Rottgers parents were Johann Henrich Rottger and Catharin Margreth Wisbroeckers.
So, do you think his wife was born in Levern? I have a marriage record in Alswede for Moritz Rottger:
1744
1) Ist Moritz Röttger, u. Anne Margarethe Schepers cop. den 5th Jan
In later childrens christenings he is shown as Rottgers OR Schepers. From earlier translations and a listing of the farm numbers, I think that he married his wife, who was a Schepers and took her surname because they lived on the farm No. 46 (a farm listed as Schepers). Their children were all christened under the surname of Schepers.
So I look at every christening record in both Levern and Alswede between 1720 and 1724 and did not find one "Anne Margrethe" (or spellings like that):(

You're welcome, Jenny. Based on how the record is written I think the mother came from Levern.
