trouble with occupation
Hello,
I found a new record today, documenting the first marriage of a great-uncle. I've figured out the transcription of the handwriting except for one interesting phrase: the groom's profession.
It starts out "Zucker..... Fabrikant" - something to do with sugar__ manufacturer. I'd really like to know, because my grandfather had told my mother that this uncle Albin Rost, later living in Danzig, had gone on to be an owner (?) of the Hermann Thomas factory in Toruń, a famous gingerbread factory.
Could someone make out the second half of that word that starts with Zucker and tell me what it means? I'm attaching the whole page, so maybe the rest of the handwriting will help. (I don't need help on the rest of it, thanks. And I see they were divorced later.)
Mostly I'm interested in tracing the groom's father, who is reported "deceased, last living in Amoy, China" on several family documents. I've been puzzling how to go about documenting that one!
Thanks,
Elda

It might be Zuckerwaren (= confectionery) though there seems to be an extra "a".

Yes, it is Zuckerwaaren Fabrikant = confectionery factory owner or confectionery manufacturer.
The double "a" is an older spelling of the word Zuckerwaren.

Awesome, thank you! I thought I saw "vaa" but thought that had to be wrong.
My grandfather wrote a memoir and letters about his life that I'm discovering, as I look for documentation, were quite accurate. I'm excited to find out that this uncle of his really was in the confectionery business. That might lead to confirming that he was indeed associated with the Hermann Thomas factory later.
