Translation of Baptism Record for Anna Margareth Schmitt
Please help me to understand what is in this record. The Evangelische church was Rimbach. I can see that is a baptism record for Anna Margaretha on 3 August 1693. It looks like her father was Andreas Schmitt. I can't read the mother's name. It looks like her given name begins with a "M" and the last name looks like it might be Schultheiss. I have wondered if what I am thinking might be the mother's name is the godparent's name. I am not sure what might be the name of the town that Andreas Schmitt was from and looks like it begins with a "B". Thank you so much for the help!

Hello Becky,
I think the place which begins with the letter "B" is Bonsweiher which is approximately 2 miles west of Rimbach.
Here is the link for Bonsweiher from Meyers Gazetteer: https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10209003
Here is a transcription of the record with a few blanks which perhaps others can fill in:
1693.
den? 3. Augusti wurde getauft Anna Margreth, Andreas wehen/wesen Schmidts zu Bonßweiher [Bonsweiher] Tochter, __ ___ Gevatterin __. Ma____ Schultheiss daselbst Hausfrau.
Comments: I don't know what to make of the word "wehen [or] wesen" after "Andreas".
Let's see if we can get some help on this record.
Best regards, Robert Seal_1
P.S. The mother's name is not recorded in this record. The godmother (Gevatterin) is: " __. Ma____ Schultheiss daselbst Hausfrau."

Where is this record from, do you know the parish? -- that might help identify the place.

Hi Robert,
I mentioned with my question that the parish was Rimbach. Rimbach is in Heppenheim. The FHL has these films only on microfilm, so I did a subscription to Archion.

Oh thanks, Becky, you did mention Rimbach. I'm working on this record right now. It's a tough one.

Thank you, Robert. All the records from 1693 to about 1710 are very tough and my knowledge is limited.

Hello again Becky,
Here's another thought regarding the godmother: she might not be personally named and is only identified as the wife (Hausfrau) of Mr. Ma_____, the mayor.
It might read: . . . Gevatterin H [Herr] Ma______ [surname] Schultheiss daselbst Hausfrau.
This would translate as: Godmother, wife of Mr. Ma_____, mayor here.
Here's an attempt at translating the entire record even with the blanks:
1693: on the 3rd of August Anna Margreth was baptized, daughter of Andreas Schmidt of Bonsweiher, godmother is the wife of Mr. Ma_____, mayor here.

FYI: I'm still hoping others will take a look at this and offer their thoughts.
