I have questions regarding a military record
Hello,
I have found a record for my 3rd great-grandfather. (The name of the document is "The German Casualties in the Franco-Prussian War, 1870-1871") Could you please tell me what the initials stand for at the end of his name? The person is Friedrich Babel near the top left column of the page. This is what I think it says:
Heading: Battle at Noisseville on 31 August 1870.
Grenadier=Regiment: Crown Prince East Prussia
Company 1 (?)
Grenadier Friedrich Babel out of Great Jagersdorf, Kr. Insterburg, T.S.D.D. Brust (I don't know what T.S.D.D. Brust means)
Thank you very much for looking at this record.

Hello Nancy, the abbreviations probably specify the type of wounding or death. I would assume that there is a listing of these abbreviations at the beginning of the list.
I would guess that T. S. d. d . Brust means Tot Schuss durch die Brust = Dead. Shot through the chest

Thank You very much, Ulrich. I'll see if I can confirm that earlier in the book.
