Was there such a city?
My grandfather's death certificate states that he was born in Bardelhov, Russia, in 1866. It also shows his father's surname as "Slawitz".
A Google search for the city returns zero results. Can anyone help with this?
I'm aware of a similar-sounding name of a city in Slovakia.
Note: the D.C. was prepared by a person I never heard of, possible a hospital physician, about 75 years ago.
