Upside down baptism records
I am looking at images of baptism records from Groß Nebrau, Marienwerder, West Prussia, Prussia, German Empire, 1700's, image group number 102402649. I noticed that interspersed on the same page as upright entries are some that are upside down. Are these stillbirths or children who died at some point? So many different years and pages look like it's intentional. Do any of you know why?
Thanks,

It is intentional. Without seeing an example it's difficult to say with certainty. However, my experience with upside down records (and sometimes records at right angles to the other records on the page) is that these records typically represent illegitimate births.

To Robert Seal_1,
Thank you. I believe you are correct. My further research seems to verify. These entries are for illegitimate births. Thank you for your helpful reply.
