Help with one word in a 1794 birth record in Alsace
I was able to figure out most of this 1794 birth record for Philipp Gerst in Runtzenheim, Alsace based on previous help from this group, but am not sure of the word that appears to be göstern highlighted in the transcription below. Also, just to confirm some variations in spelling for:
- beambter for beamter
- vorgesteldt to mean to present
The rest seems to make sense. The surnames are all consistent with other records from the same location and period. Thanks!

Hello @Tom Randolph,
Excellent transcription and excellent translation.
göstern = gestern = yesterday
Beambter = Beamter = official, in this case the public registrar
vorgesteldt = vorgestellt = presented
göstern nachts um Zwölf uhr = yesterday at 12 o'clock at night
und ist ihm der name Philipp beÿgelegt worden = and the name Philipp was given to him

From the context, I'd say that göstern is gestern = yesterday - you got it right. Same for Beambter and vorgesteldt.
I'm curious about Susanne Springer though - in the text, the name looks like Springer - compare to the "p" in Philipp, but her signature at the bottom looks more like Stringer.

@Robert Seal_1 , @sylviaelchinger1 , Thanks both! You're helping to get my confidence up!
Sylvia: yes, I wasn't sure about the Springer name, but it is clear in the Dicennial Tables for that period, which are not in script -- only the Springer name appears in that town.
Thanks again!
