German equivalents for French given names
I am looking at civil records for the area south of Cologne which was under French rule in the early part of the 19th Century. The 1807 marriage registration I am reviewing lists the groom's first name as Germain. I would like to have a resource list of equivalent names French to German so I know for certain what the equivalent of Germain is in later German records.
I hope that someone can help me with a source for this information.
Thank you in advance.

Hello @BetteB,
The following reference book is an excellent source for converting German names to English, Latin, and French, and vice versa:
Ernest Thode, German-English Genealogical Dictionary (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., c1992).
