Looking for Image/Sketch of Wermelskirchen Braunschweig Post Office
I have ancestors from Bohemia and Prussia and Braunschweig in my family tree. This post pertains to an ancestor from Braunschweig. He emmigrated from Wermelskirchen Braunschweig on 10 Apr 1849 and died of cholera on 20 Jun 1849 in St Louis MO soon after arrival there. He did not get an official permit to emmigrate. He had been postmaster at Wermelskirchen and had been entrusted with large amounts of money. The mother country found him and sued this private citizen in the USA. Initially the ruling was that a foreign country could not sue a private citizen but that was overturned by the MO supreme court in the 1850's. What I am searching for is any kind of image such as a sketch of what the post office in Wermelskirchen looked like. I would be interested in any tips as to a museum or other source of information. Thank you. Ron Blaha in Garland Texas USA

Image No 8 appears to show the Post Office (Postamt). (In case in the link doesn't show: Google 'Wermelskirchen' and 'historische Bilder' (historical images). The city has its own site.

I am a bit stunned by the specification "Wermelskirchen Braunschweig" - I know of only one Wermelskirchen which is in North Rhine-Westphalia (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/21119060), quite far from Braunschweig. The images above are from that city.
Are you sure this is the right place?

In 1849 "Braunschweig" would have been the Duchy of Brunswick - see map on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duchy_of_Brunswick: doesn't inlcude Wermelskirchen - and I cannot find an alternative Wermelskirchen. Consequently I would be sceptical with the Braunschweig attribution as well.
