Advice on where and how to search for further information on family.
I know my great grandparents were Dietrich Heinrich Schwecke, and Elizabeth Meyer. They were both born in 1845. I know they lived in Mehringen, near Hoya, because I have 4 birth records for my grandfather and uncles from 1875 to 1891. Dietrich was a "hausling". There first child was born in June 1870, so they probably got married in 1868 or 1869. I don't know where they lived prior to 1875, nor where they got married. I don't know their parents names. I know that Dietrich and Elizabeth, and all 8 of their children immigrated to the USA in 1892.
I would like to know where they got married, and when. I would like to know the names of their parents. I would like to know if they had brothers and sisters. I am interested if there are any Schwecke family still living in the area of Hoya.
I have looked through the ancestry.com hints, but I'm not finding good information. Your advice on where to look, and how to look for information in Germany would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have an a copy of both Dietrich and Elizabeth's death certificates? They typically list parents names if known. You may have seen this website:
It provides dates but it doesn't index parents names so you'll need to request a copy of the actual certificates.

Tons of info on him and Elizabeth. Click on the blue highlighted names. You'll be able to follow the Schweke line back many generations.

When you start following your Schwecke lineage back in the Schwarme familybook be sure to follow the Margret KÖSTER line. Your KÖSTERs go back to the 1500s (maybe before) in Schwarme. Some interesting information is detailed
