Why no Improve This Place button for some Accepted places?
I don't understand why an Accepted place does not have an Improve This Place button? Hmmm, I guess I wasn't recognized as logged in...oh well no bug ...
Example:
What improvements need to be made? Alternate Names for one ...for others take a look at:
https://www.logainm.ie/en/23910
Which brings up the idea of Ireland townlands. Apparently townlands have been included in FamilySearch which explains why users don't have the option to contribute townlands under SUGGEST A NEW PLACE? But those townlands have been included as map pins and not areas - which you can clearly see in the above example is not correct.
If areas are identified in one gazetteer and map pins in another clearly there is a different structure - fine - what is the structure please? Why do some placenames have area then? How does one Improve This Place to identify/create a containing/parent place with children places - which option is it that submits that change?
Generally: Where is the Places documentation?

Here are some links that should help with your questions and concerns:
- For Cloonlogher, it has been updated and can be seen at: https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?focusedId=1004773
- You can add a new place here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/fieldops/familysearch-places-principles-guidelines If the place type of townlands is not a option, then you can use the feedback email opton below in 3. The option for a user to request this type should follow in the future.
- For places feedback: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-correct-or-edit-a-place-in-familysearch-places
- In reference to your question as to why some places only show as a pin, vs with borders. This is a resource and programming challange. FamilySearch does try to create these for Countries, States, Counties.
Note: FamilySearch also has new URL which explains Places Principles and Guidlines: https://www.familysearch.org/en/fieldops/familysearch-places-mission-and-purpose
