Translation of birthplace in confirmation record
I'm helping my friend and need help reading the town of birth of her grandmother, Helene Grau, KCR1-QFD, and her mother's maiden name. Her records in familysearch show the mother's name as Helene Butchereit.
Please see entry # 11 for Helene Grau, birthplace (?), age 14, born 26 January 1895. I'm not sure what the next column stands for nor can I read the name of the church in the next column. Her parents are Edward and Helene (born ___________?)
This record is from Lithuanian but no one has been able to help!
Thank you so much for your help!

Hello Joellen,
Counting the column with the number "11" on the far left as column 1:
Column 3 is Residence place and column 4 is Birth place and written across both columns is: Krasniany.
Column 8 is Number of the record [or document]: 20. [This is referring to the confirmation document.]
Column 9 is: Parish: Mar. [This might be an abbreviation.]
Column 10: I read the mother's maiden surname as: Butchereid. [Though the final letter could be a "t" rather than a "d". But in any case final "d" and "t" are frequently interchangeable so your friend's records showing the name as Butchereit matches well with what is written in this record.]

The only locality I can find close to Krasniany (Lithuania) is Russia, Khar′kov, Kupi︠a︡nsk, Novai︠a︡ Krasni︠a︡nka. Do you think that may be the place of her birth?

Sorry, but I am not familiar with Lithuanian or Russian geography and border changes.
I found this link on Wikipedia for a place called Krasniany in Poland close to the Belarus border and slightly south of the Lithuanian border: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kra%C5%9Bniany
Given the many border changes in this region, perhaps this is the place you are looking for.

Robert, I believe that may be the right place. Thanks for locating that!
